Acclaimed duo will perform in Drogheda town
Leading piano and violin duo Alina and Cedric will take to the stage in Drogheda later this month as part of the Drogheda Classical Music Series.
The Drogheda Classical Music Series has gained huge praise for drawing some of the world’s best international artists to the local area with a host of amazing performances under its belt.
Past performers have included Angela Hewitt, Barry Douglas, Peter Donohoe, Michael Collins and now this season, the stakes are even higher.
On Thursday 23 November at 7:30pm in St Peter’s Church of Ireland, two of today’s finest violin and piano players will perform a programme of glorious works including Caesar Franck’s beautiful violin sonata.
Drogheda audiences will remember Cédric Tiberghien’s spellbinding performance of Chopin during the Arts Festival in 2016.
Now he returns with the Russian / British violinist Alina Ibragimova for what will no doubt be one of the Series’ musical highlights of recent years.
While equally as successful as individual musicians, it is their duo partnership that is taking the classical music world by storm. They met on the acclaimed BBC Music Generation programme where The Times newspaper wrote “Both of these players have the potential to conquer the world” and have gone on to perform throughout Europe and in North America, appearing at major venues including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Carnegie Hall in New York and the San Francisco Performance series as well as major tours of Australia and Asia. The pair are also regular guests of the Wigmore Hall in London, where in 2015-16 they presented a series of 5 concerts to perform the complete sonatas for Violin and Piano by Mozart. They subsequently recorded these works with Gramophone Magazine stating “[it is] a set that will surely become the modern reference recording.”
Don’t miss this Drogheda exclusive. It is the duo’s only performance in Ireland this year and an exciting and exceptional opportunity to see and hear two musicians of this calibre in our town.
