FITTING “THANK YOU”

Wasn’t the Fr. Hickey night quite the event on Sunday week last. As the heading suggests, and all in attendence were at great pains to point out, this wasn’t a farewell, but an opporunity to thank Michael for his terrific work that was far and above what was requisite from him.

In previous columns, and in parish circles, it has been well documented what this man has done for us in Monasterboice, and all this was echoed at Sunday’s gig again.

In the packed, newly opened, absolutely impressive Events Room in Donegan’s, Marie Callery, Eamon Kieans et al all sang the praises of the Premier Priest from the Premier County. Suffice to say, there’s little to append.

No, he may no longer be the CC of Monasterboice, but it is hoped that we will see almost as much of him, in a social capacity, now that he has a bit more time to mingle.

Come to think of it, wouldn’t this be some sort of Utopia. Fr Micheal, this beautiful, gentle, compassionate man, minus his sermons. Couldn’t be better says you.

Thanks again Michael.
