TIDY TOWNS DRAW

THE monthly draw for October was held in Lynch’s Bar and the winners were - €100 Sandra Gorman, €60 Derek Cullen, €50 Sinead Powell, €40 Finn Cullen, €30 Collette Harop. The next draw takes place in the Village Inn on Friday November 24th. To join the draw contact John at 087 2644603.

MONSTER DRAW

TICKETS are presently on sale for a major fundraiser for a new community centre in the village. The draw has a prize fund of approx €70,000, including cars, holidays and cash prizes. The new centre will be built on a site adjacent to the local national school and planning permission has already been obtained from Meath County Council. The fundraisin­g committee are hopeful of selling 2,000 tickets at €100 each. First prize is a Toyota Corolla or €20,000, second is a Toyota Yaris or €15,000 and third is a Toyota Aygo or €10,000. Other prizes include €5,000 in cash, €3,000 holiday voucher, Topaz fuel voucher for €2,500, trip for two to the Cheltenham Festival, 2,000 litres of home heating oil and four separate prizes of €1,000.

PRIDE OF PLACE

Slane was the big winner at the Laytown-Bettystown Municipal District Pride of Place awards in the Conyngham Arms Hotel, recently, scooping seven prizes. Slane Tidy Towns won the large Town (1,000) award while the best hospitalit­y/tourism award went jointly to Ledwidge Museum committee & Slane Hub - Slane Community Forum. First prize in the small housing estate went to Marian Terrace with Crann Daire Brae second. In the medium housing estate first place went to Abbeyview and second to Churchland­s.

LEDWIDGE LIBRARY

LOCAL Cllr Wayne Harding officially opened the new school library at St Patrick’s NS recently. The new library is named after the local poet, Francis Ledwidge. An extensive range of books, totaling €2,500, was presented to the school for their new library by Meath County Council.

ENCHANTED KINGDOM

BOOKINGS are presently being taken for the Enchanted Kingdom at Slane Castle. Father Christmas, Mrs Claus & head elf, Elf Jingle along with a host of others will once again be staying in The Enchanted Kingdom at Slane Castle this Christmas Season 2017. Families will venture through The Enchanted Kingdom amongst a host of festive scenes before meeting the main man himself Santa Claus. Tickets for The Enchanted Kingdom are now available to buy. Children: €22 per child plus booking fee; Adults: €15 per adult plus booking fee.

TABLE QUIZ

THE Hub have a table quiz night in the Village Inn on Friday, November 17th, at 9pm. Table of four €40, all support welcome.

CRAFT FAIR

TORBO TRAINING

TURBO training organized by Slane Spinners continue on Thursday evenings at 8pm in Slane Youth Café. Open to everyone and all are welcome. Turbos can be supplied. Further details from 087 1123103.

ROLLER CYCLE

CYCLIST from the Slane area are invited to come along and support the annual 24 hour roller cycle event on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd December, at Foleys Arch in Watergate Street Navan. Once again proceeds from this event will go to the ARC Cancer Support Centre. ARC offers numerous services like therapy support and counsellin­g to people with cancer, their families and relations regardless of where they live.
