PARISH NEWS

Mellifont Parish Pastoral Council will meet on Thursday the 9th of November at 8pm in the Parochial House.

The next Confirming our Faith Mass will be on Saturday the 11th of November at 7.30pm. The next Do This in Memory Mass will be on Sunday the 26th of November.

Mass for Prisoners (Prisoners’ Sunday) will be celebrated on Sunday the 12th of November at 11 am. Families and friends of prisoners are invited to this Mass. We remember too those who are imprisoned because of sickness and addiction. Permanent Deacon in our diocese Andy Hegarty will offer a reflection and join with us in the celebratio­n of the Eucharist. He is also a prison chaplain. All are welcome.

We will have a speaker from Trocaire speaking at Mass about gift cards on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th of November. Then Trocaire gift cards will be on sale on 25th and 26th of November. Your support is much appreciate­d.

Wednesday 22nd is Red Wednesday. We are invited to stand up for faith and freedom. Organised by Archbishop Eamon Martin and Aid to the Church in Need. Pray the Angelus at 12 and 6 and wear something red to remember those who died for their faith. Armagh Cathedral will be illuminate­d red.

On Wednesday the 22nd of November we will have rosary and meditation­s for suffering and persecuted Christians around the world at 7 pm followed by Mass at 7.30pm which will remember those who are suffering or who have died for their faith. This is part of our outreach project (Aid to the Church in Need) which is been undertaken by our Parish Pastoral Council for this coming year. All are welcome to this special time of prayer and celebratio­n of the Eucharist.

MEN’S SHED

The Men’s Shed Tullyallen meet up every Tuesday and Friday mornings 10am till 1.00pm. This is open to all men in the Parish and surroundin­g areas. Everyone has something

to offer the Shed they would be delighted to get new members on board. They are currently in process of obtaining a site for their workshop.

TOWNLEY HALL GOLF CLUB NEWS

The winners of last the 9 hole re-entry played 28th/29th October are as follows: 1st Jim Faulkner with 20 points, 2nd was Mick Reilly with 20 points and the Midweek winner was Dessie Johnston with 23 points.

SLIMMING WORLD TIMES

Slimming World have two classes each week on Thursdays. The first class is 5pm and the second is 7pm. Why not head on down to the Glen Emmets Clubrooms and get on the right track.

GLEN EMMETS CLUBROOMS

THE BRICKX CLUB

Great news for all the lego kids out there. There is a Brickx club in Starinagh, Collon every Thursday from 5 till 6. This is aimed at kids between 4 and 12 who love being creative with their brick building. Why not give Theresa a call on 086 3212986 to for further details.

TULLYALLEN PARENT & TODDLER GROUP

Group meets on a Thursday morning 9.45 to 11.45 upstairs in Glen Emmets. There is a small cost of €3 for a cuppa and a wee chat and entry to Glen Emmets lotto. The Kids are not left out as they get toast and juice. They are always open to some new faces, this even includes parents, grandparen­ts and minders - all welcome.

LOTTO RESULTS

Results for the Glen Emmets Lotto held Tuesday 24th October 2017. The Grand Prize Draw for €10,000 was held and the prize went to ‘The Jolly4’ (Francis, May, Rita & Fr. Malachy Flanagan). Well done to the winners. So we are now back to 1 draw which was held Tuesday 31st October 2017. The Grand Prize Draw is now for €2,300 there was no winner for that draw, the numbers drawn were: 12, 20, 21 & 22. The Lucky dip winners for €25 are as follows: Pat & mary Hurson, Paddy Flanagan Jnr., Martin Lane & John English. Next week’s draw is €2,400.
