iphone 5s stolen in distractio­n robbery

GARDAÍ in Drogheda are investigat­ing after a local woman had her iphone stolen by a youth who approached her in the town centre and asked if he could borrow her phone to make a call.

The incident happened at 10pm on Friday, November 10th in the vicinity of the Scotch Hall shoppoing centre.

The woman was approached by a young male dressed in a black padded jacket and wearing a black baseball cap. He asked her if he could use her phone but when she handed over her white iphone 5s the youth ran off.

Meanwhile, gardaí would like to hear from anyone who may have noticed a group of youth letting off a fire extinguish­er in the undergroun­d carpark at Southgate Shopping Centre last Saturday at around 8pm. The youths ran off after they were seen by a security man.

A house in Stameen was broekn into last Tuesday, November 7th sometime between 6pm and 9pm. The owners returned to find the front door of the house had been forced open and a number of rooms had been ransacked.

A small quantity of cash was taken.
