Sheila Schwer was newsagent

It is with regret that we record the death of Mrs. Sheila M. Schwer, 117, West Street, Drogheda, which occurred on Sunday last in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, following a short illness.

The deceased lady, who was in her seventies, was a native of Borrisolei­gh, Co. Tipperary, and for many years was proprietre­ss of a thriving newsagent business in West Street.

A well-known figure in the locality, the late Mrs. Schwer was resident in Drogheda for over fifty years. A devout Catholic, she was held in the higest respect by her large clientele and many friends.

She was daughter of the late John and Honora McCormack of Borrisolei­gh.

Predecease­d by her husband, Mr. J. Schwer, she is survived by Mrs. S. Phillips (daughter). Miss B. McCormack and Miss L. McCormack (sisters) and other relatives.

The funeral, which was largely representa­tive, took place to St. Peter’s cemetery on Tuesday morning, following Solemn Requiem Mass in St. Peter’s Church. The celebrant of the Mass was Rev. P. Russell, C.C., Cabra, Dublin (cousin of the deceased); Rev. J. Lennon, C.C., St. Peter’s, was deacon, and Rev. Fr. Dorman, C.C.,’ do., was sub-deacon. Rev. M. C. Walsh, C.C St. Peter’s, was Master of Ceremonies.
