TIDY TOWNS AGM

Here’s a message from Alison Quail, outgoing treasurer of Monasterboice Tourism and Tidy Towns

A big THANK YOU to everyone that came to our AGM last night in the Monasterboice Inn. It was a great turn out and we are very grateful to Sergeant Vincent Jackson for talking to us about his ideas for crime prevention at our Monastic Site.

He is very passionate in preventing crime and particularly ensuring that our tourist attractions remain crime free. None of us want our main Tourist attraction in the area to be marked as black spot for break ins and deter tourists to our area.

Monasterboice Tourism and Tidy Towns Group are fully in support of this and we will keep you posted as plans progress. We were also delighted to have Declan Breathnach T.D. in attendance. Declan has great support for the Tidy Towns movement and gave us great encouragement that we are heading in the right direction. He has also been of great assistance to the Tidy Towns group about ongoing traffic safety concerns that we have raised in the area and pointing us in the right direction to progress this and all other matters related to Tidy Towns. We thank him for his support.

Our bigger news is that we now have a newly elected central committee to bring our tourism and tidy towns group forward.

We are delighted to announce our new committee as follows:

Chairperson: Sean McCormack.

Secretary: Kathryn Moran Treasurer: Charlie Brodigan. PRO: Deirdre Duggan Assistant PRO: Kathy Duggan Litter Co-ordinator: Pat Breen We wish them all the best in their roles and hope that our community will give them all the support that they need. All positions are voluntary and it is great to see so many people come together and offer their time effortlessly for their community.

We also would like to thank our outgoing central committee Roseanne Donegan ( Chairperson), Eileen Smyth ( Secretary) Alison Quail ( Treasurer), Sandra Breen ( PRO) and Pat Breen who is remaining on as Litter Co-ordinator for all their hard work to date and are glad that they will be remaining as involved as ever going forward.
