Dementia Advisor Maeve Montgomery on hand to help out Louth families
THE Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI) is reminding people in Louth that a free Dementia Advisor is available to all families in County Louth facing a dementia disagnosis.
The Dementia Adviser in the area is Maeve Montgomery and she is available to meet with them in their homes free of charges; no medical card needed; as part of their confidential service.
Maeve covers County Louth, County Cavan and County Monaghan and works with people who have dementia and their families and carers to provide a highly responsive and individualised information and signposting service.
Maeve recently ran a series of talks titled ‘Little Changes Make a Big Difference’ which were free events covering such topics as an introduction to dementia and eating well with dementia.
The next information hub that is being run by Maeve is taking place on Friday, December 1st at the Íontas Arts Centre in Castleblayney, County Monaghan.
This is a drop-in service where people who have a dementia diagnosis or family members who are caring for someone with dementia can have a chat with Maeve who can address their concerns and give them information on dementia.
This is a free service and no appointment is necessary.
ASI Dementia Adviser Maeve Montgomery said: ‘It’s so important for people to have as much information as possible when they are faced with a dementia diagnosis so they can continue to live life to the full and that is what I aim to do with this free and confidential service.’
As we are approaching the Christmas period, Maeve would also like to remind families about the ASI’s ‘Caring at Christmas’ factsheet which offers practical tips and suggestions for families as they plan the holiday season.
