‘Serious’ dumping at the Buttergate site
WHAT has been described as an ‘astonishing’ amount of bottles and cans have been found dumped in the vicinity of the recently refurbished Buttergate.
The ancient monument has been the subject of a major clean up by the ‘Defenders of Drogheda’s Heritage’ in recent months and they say the dumping there is shameful.
‘We have collected an astonishing amount of bottles and cans’, Cllr Frank Godfrey stated.
‘We did a general clean up without impacting on the structure’, he added.
He says he’d love to see Louth CC open up the area for amenity use. He applauded the efforts of those that carried out the work, especially the likes of Fintan McCarthy and said they have the heritage of Drogheda in their hearts.
