Deterrents needed

The Oireachtas should enact the Live Saving Equipment Bill 2017 into law to bring it deterrents for those who interfere with essential life-saving equipment, Cllr Conor Keelan proposed.

He said he had spoken to staff about the frequency that they have to replace life buoys at lakes and rivers due to people removing them. ‘ There needs to be a deterrent for this activity,’ he stated.

Cllr Kevin Callan supported the motion, saying he couldn’t understand how people can interfere with such equipment.
