CLOVERHILL

FROST delayed play on Saturday morning but did not deter team captain Aengus Hannaway (15) from giving his Turtle Doves squad a flying start with 29 points which proved to be their best score.

As well as supplying the stools for his Maids-a-Milking team Cathal Hughes (12) furnished them with 29 points a score that was equalled by James Coburn (11) who has all the Xmas food supplies in cold storage and he can add to his stash as his 3 finishing pars netted him third place on the countback.

Vice Captain Paddy Malone (4) will be delighted that he was able to arrest the good run of his playing partner James who had become accustomed to winning with a great return of 30 points which unfortunately was only good enough for runner-up spot. Week two saw James Carragher (10) blow a fuse as he shot the lights out with a 2-over par round which gave him a winning score of 32 points. Round three will take place this coming week.

After two rounds of the Christmas League just 12 points separates the 12 competing teams with the best 3 cards out of 6 counting towards your team score each week. Early risers Maids -a-Milking with another early riser at the helm Brendan Hughes are the current table toppers.

Brendan’s team hold a fourpoint leads over the Geese-aLaying team led by it’s gander (not ganger) Colum Quinn with current BBC Star acting the part as leader of the Turtle Doves a point in arrears of the second placed team
