Pay Parking in Laytown/ Bettystown?

CLLR Sharon Tolan wants Meath CC to look at the parking situation in Laytown/Bettystown with a view to getting a plan in place to help local retailers.

She has been calling for action in order that customers of local shops can actually park.

However, the prospect of pay parking is not being considered for the area.

Meath CC stated that there needs to be a certain number of public spaces available for the scheme to cover its costs that that does not exist anywhere in Meath, outside of Trim, Kells and Navan.

‘ The introduction of a maximum time limit scheme should also need to make provision for longer stay parking facilities, to cater for all parking needs,’ they stated.

Even a scheme like that would incur costs, such as enforcement and administration.

But Cllr Tolan said that she was told proposals would be looked at and she wants that done.
