NOTHING TO BE PROUD OF!

Last Saturday night was a bad one for the Community, when a significant amount of damage was done on the Hurcle Road. The evidence suggests that a tractor was used, as the tyre marks left at the scene makes the use of a tractor the most likely cause of the damage.

On the approach to Doe Bridge, from the Glassallen Road, the flower box and signpost ( which accommodates two signs) one of which is an Anti-Litter Gold Medal sign awarded earlier this year, were damaged.

At Doe Bridge, the flower tub was over-turned. Further up the Hurcle Road (in the Starinagh direction) at a location known locally as Scanlon’s Hole, the seat was smashed beyond repair. Someone may have some idea who caused this damage in the hours of darkness.

If you have any information what-so-ever, please pass it on to the Gardai, it could be vital to apprehending those responsible. There was also damage done around the Lynch’s Cross area. The Navan and Slane Gardai have been notified.

Thank to the Gardai for their work to date. Thanks also to all Community Members and those from further afield who made contact to express their concern and revulsion at the events of last weekend. It was heartening and greatly appreciated. Their is absolutely no support for this type of activity in Our Community.

On a separate Community Alert note, please make sure that all Personal Socially Monitored Alarms are working as required.

You can check out their operation by pressing the pendant button, when you should get a response from personnel in the Monitoring Station within seconds.

CHRISTMAS SHOEBOX APPEAL 2017

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed in any way to the Christmas shoebox appeal this year; those who gave filled boxes, toys, stationary, soap, toothpaste, sweets, knitted dolls clothes, etc and made donations towards boxes.

We delivered 423 shoeboxes to the Kells & Trim Team Hope centres where they will soon be collected for the long journey to Africa which is the destination this year.

Having travelled to Ukraine in 2011 to help distribute shoeboxes to the children I can ensure you that it is a very special present for the children to receive.

Thank you for helping make Christmas special for these children, it’s very much appreciated. Best wishes, Marella & Angela

MRS. DODIE CALLAGHAN

We are sad to announce that one of our oldest members, Dodie Callaghan passed away last week. Dodie was a lovely lady and much loved and respected by everyone in the club.

She used to play every single day with her friend Marita Hurst and really enjoyed and loved the game. She had a terrific swing that was much admired by many players.

Members were honoured to form a Guard of Honour for her at the removal to St. Cianan’s Church Duleek last Wednesday evening as a mark of respect.

May Dodie’s gentle soul rest in peace.
