SANTA IN SANDPIT

The Sandpit Community Christmas Tree Lighting Event takes place at Mc Grane’s XL on Tuesday December 5th from 6.30pm. There will be carol singing and Irish dancing on stage, provided by Scoil Mhuire gan Smal, Sandpit, Greenacres Childcare and Corrigan White School of Irish Dance. There will also be a special guest appearance from Stephan Callan. Santa and his elves will arrive at 6.45pm with gifts for all. All are welcome for a great evening.

DECLAN WINTERS R.I.P.

We offer our deepest sympathy to the family, relations and friends of Nicholas Declan Winters, Baltray Road, who died recently. Requiem Mass was offered in the Church of the Immaculate Conception and the Funeral in the Old Cemetery.

CHRISTMAS CARDS

The Parish Christmas Cards are currently on sale. They are available in both Parish Churches and the Credit Union Offices. The cost is €5 for 7 cards. The cards are produced by the Parish Pastoral Council and this initiative since it began some years back has proved to be an excellent one.

ST. FECHIN’S EVENTS.

The St. Fechin’s AGM takes place in the Coffee Shop in Forge Field Farm on Wednesday December 6th at 7.30pm. Tickets are now on sale for the St. Fechin’s Community Building Fundraiser “lip Sync Battle” which will be held on December 30th in City North Hotel. Rehearsals are well under way for what promises to be a very entertaini­ng show. There will be 12 acts with over 50 contestant­s performing. These tickets costing €25 can be purchased in Termonfeck­in Post Office, Forge Field Farm Shop and Loud Ink in Meatmarket Lane. Meanwhile a Table Quiz which is also a Community Building Fundraiser will be held in the Mariner Pub on Thursday November 30th at 8pm. It costs €40 per Table to enter.

YOUNG HURLER.

Congratula­tions to Sean Kerrisk from St. Fechin’s who was recently presented with the “Louth GAA U16 Hurling Player of the Year” award. Sean was also a member of the St. Fechin’s U16 Hurling team who beat Knockbridg­e in the recent Championsh­ip Final. The score was 4-11 to 1-6.

ST. FECHINS LOTTO

The numbers drawn were 1, 12, 20 and 23. There was no jackpot winner. The €100 winners were Declan and Stephen c/o Post Office. Winners of €20 were Ivan Duff, John Leech, Michael and Shirley Callaghan, Cathal Kearney and John Dolan. The jackpot this week is worth €1,900 and is sponsored by Madden’s Centra, Termonfeck­in.

IFA AGM.

Termonfeck­in IFA branch held its AGM recently. Gerard Meegan continues as Chairman and Damien Moore is the Secretary.

Set Dancing. There will be no Set Dancing in Sandpit Hall this Thursday night. Instead it will be held in the Morning Star in Tullyallen at 9pm. This is because of the start of the Drogheda Trad weekend. Live music will be provided on the night.

SEAPOINT PITCH & PUTT.

There was a big turnout for Week 8 of the Turkey Competitio­n which was an 18 Gross. The weather was favourable for good scoring, which is reflected in the results. Senior-1st: Gerry Breen Jnr. 43, 2nd: Fechin Rath 46. Inter-1st: Bobby O’Brien 45, 2nd: Kieran McDonnell 48. Junior-1st: Andy Davis 52, 2nd: Nicky McCann 53. Whiskey Winner: Ray McEvoy 49. Ladies-1st: Mary Agnew 51, 2nd: Margaret McCabe 54. Week 9 of the Turkey Competitio­n was held over the weekend and was an 18 Nett. ADORATION.

Eucharisti­c Adoration takes place on Monday evenings from 7-8pm in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Why not come and spend some quiet time in the presence of the Lord.

WHIST.

Whist is held on Sunday nights at 8.30pm in Sandpit Hall. If you are a regular player or would like to learn how to play Whist, why not come along? All are welcome.

Success keeps coming for Drummond House Garlic, the latest being a Drogheda Chamber Business Award. Congratula­tions to Peter and Marita Collier on Drummond House Garlic winning the Small Business Award at the recent Chamber Business Awards held in City North Hotel. This award was sponsored by the Local Enterprise Office, Louth.
