Final works to start on Harty’s thatch cottage

-

COUNCILLOR Paul Bell has confirmed that the final works on Harty’s Cottage in Crushrod Avenue will be completed in the lead up to Christmas or very early in January.

“Yes I am delighted to confirm that the Cottage which was thatched last year will now have it’s walls white washed making it “Postcard” ready. I have made the works possible through the issuing of a grant from my District Allowance as no other funds were available, which is understandable taking into consideration the fact that a Council and a Government Heritage grant was required for the thatching” said Bell

“Also on the issue of thatching I would to confirm that the Thatch Pub property on Donore Road will be totally recovered and hopefully before the Fleadh Ceol. Unfortunately the works have been delayed as structural works on the walls of the building require significant attention before thatching can proceed. I have been assured by Council that the commitment to restore the heritage building will be honoured” Bell concluded
