Eddie tells UK - ‘Drogheda is a city’

YOU can always trust Eddie Phelan to deliver.

The former head of the chamber was part of a three person crew chatting about the Brexit on Channel 4 news last Wednesday (well done Margaret Reilly and Niall Kierans too) when he declared Drogheda a city - live in front of millions of viewers in Britain and Ireland. You can’t beat publicity like that.

All he missed was a plug about the Fleadh. But maybe when Sky TV come over next he’ll get a chance!

Community spirit

IT was wonderful to see true community spirit in action last Saturday. Three things I came across. Sandpit was looking magnificent and the reason - one of them anyway, the litter picking woman I spotted, out and about outside the school, playing her part in keeping the place tidy.

It is a stunning little community there and always looks the part.

Number two was in Clogherhead and the team of volunteers lined up on the main street, getting the Christmas lights up.

And then the Polar Plunge at the beach. A superb, well organised event and a group of volunteers to match any, brave enough to jumped into the Irish Sea at this time of the year.
