Joeys boys in the medals at CBS meeting

-

DROGHEDA school St Joseph’s was to the fore in last Friday’s CBS Rice Cross-Country Championships in ALSAA as Tadgh Donnelly stormed home to win the Under-17 race.

The Drogheda & District AC clubman eased into the lead after 2,000m and over the next 2,000 pushed out his advantage to win by more than 100m, helping to earn St Joseph’s team silver medals as their other athletes finished sixth, 13th and 20th.

St Joseph’s also took home the gold team medals in the Under-15 event thanks to the efforts of Esosa Victor, Emmet Delaney, Mark Odubers and Emmet Murray who finished fourth, ninth and 13th. That’s another victory to add their ever-growing list.

In the Under-14 event some poor stewarding at the finish deprived Bailey Kerr of an individual medal, but with the four scoring members finishing fifth, sixth, 13th and 25th St Joseph’s managed to secure team bronze which was some consolation.

Thoughts now turn to the annual Johnny Mc Kenna Run. The 11th renewal of this event takes place on December 22nd over the 15km course from St Joseph’s to Clogherhead harbour.
