THE DIARY

-

I USED to watch Ben Buckley play football and he was a magnificent player.

I think he limits his games these days - but one thing is certain, he can still perform on the highest stage as a singer.

I listened to the great man at the Drogheda Male Voice Choir show in the sold out TLT last Saturday and what a star he is.

High Hopes he sang and what a delivery! I have to say, the whole show was a masterclass in perfection.

Ireland’s Got Talent filmed there in recent weeks but this was certainly a case of Drogheda’s Got Talent, from host, Alison Comyn to David Leddy, the master of the guitar Barry Leahy, the world class Amie Dyer, the incredible Timmy Regan, the stunning Niamh Leddy, and what about Sharon Gaynor, a true powerhouse.

Others followed in a star studded show. Incredible.

Solid idea Cllr Sharon

It’s a solid idea, especially given the fact that such a scheme operates in Drogheda as far as I’m aware.

Dunleer Sisters in Nottingham convent in 1930s

THE area in Old Lenton in Nottingham where the children’s home once stood is long changed.

Today, where the impressive and imposing old building stood is a housing complex, with just part of the development remaining.

Gone too are the signs that this was home to the Sisters of Nazareth.

They ran the home and my interest surrounds two Dunleer sisters who were based here.

One was the Reverend Mother back in the 1930s, Rev Mother Kyran while her sister was Sister Teresa of Carmel.

I know they had at least one brother, Joseph Hoey from Trean, Dunleer.

I’m sure they had an amazing story to

There’s only one Sean Tester!

WHAT a great show by all the choirs in the build up to Christmas. Sharon Carty and Sean Tester (pictured) recently brought St Peter’s down with a classic ‘Barcelona’ and there will be a ‘second sitting’ of the St Peter’s Male Voice Choir show in the Westcourt Hotel on Thursday December 21 at 8pm.

Lizzy opens

BEST wishes to Lizzys fruit and veg shop which has opened in Dunleer.
