Armed raidsat twofilling stations

-

GARDAÍ are investigating two separate armed raids on filling stations in the local area over the past week.

The first incident happened last Monday night, December 5th at the Tesco Extra filling station.

A raider entered the shop in the evening brandishing what appeared to be a firearm and demanded money but he fled empty handed after the security system was activated.

The incident happened shortly before 8pm.

It is understood from CCTV footage that the man had watched the station from a nearby building, waiting until the store was empty before entering the premises.

When he fled the scene he ran off in the direction of the IDA Business Park, running across the road in front of traffic in the process.

Just a day later, on December 6th, a man with his face partially covered and armed with a knife entered the Maxol filling Station on the Donore Road.

The lone raider threatened staff and demanded money but again in this instance he left the scene empty handed. The incident on Tuesday night happened at around 7.45pm.
