CCTV OF BREAK-INS

- By FIONA MAGENNIS A CCTV image from the Morning Star in Tullyallen.

THE owners of the Morning Star Public House in Tullyallen have released CCTV footage of intruders robbing the pub after the premises was broken into on three separate occasions since it reopened its doors at the end of August.

They said that while they have received great support from their loyal customers, the business has been blighted by such a large number of breakins in such a short space of time.

On the pub’s Facebook page, clips of each of the three separate burglaries have been posted and the intruders can be clearly seen, although in each case they take care not to show their face to the camera and have shielded their heads with hoods or baseball caps.

The first incident took place on Friday, October 13th at 4.42am when the culprit used a massive rock to smash in the front door.

‘We believe that at least two of the break-in’s have been carried out by the same person,’ said the owners. ‘If anyone has any information they feel might help us catch the persons responsible we would be more than grateful for your help.’

The footage shows a man clearly familiar with the layout of the pub and he can be seen using a large stick to smash through one of the machines and steal the contents.

The second break-in occurred on between Tuesday and Wednesday November 08th and on this occasion two individuals broke in through a skylight in the roof. The third and most recent burglary happened at 2.20am on Friday, December 1st and was particularly upsetting as a member of staff was still on the premises at the time. Again in this instance, the person responsible smashed in the front door.

In all three break-in’s, the culprits came down the church lane on foot and ran back up afterwards.

‘Rest assured these set backs will not prevent us from continuing to do our best to give the people of Tullyallen the warm and comfortable country pub that we believe they deserve,’ said the owners.

They appealed for anyone with any information in relation to these incidents to contact them and this will be passed on to the gardaí in the strictest of confidence.
