Defendant warned to keep out of trouble

-

A man who admitted drink driving while he didn’t have any insurance has been warned he will go to prision if he doesn’t keep out of trouble.

‘Keep out of trouble. If you’re up again, you will go to Mountjoy,’ the Judge Coughlan has warned Jason O’Brien (27), Rathmullen Park, Drogheda.

The defendant admitted drink driving and no insurance charges, which occurred at Mullaghcrone, Donore, on 31 December, 2016.

He gave a breath sample which showed a reading of 50mg.

Barrister Irene Sands remarked O’Brien had a chequered past, but a circuit court sentence he served for an assault, has ‘straightened him out.’

The court heard O’Brien has a partner and one child, and is on social welfare.

A four-year disqualification and €100 fine were handed down for no insurance, while a two-year disqualification and €75 fine were imposed for drink driving.

Other associated charges were taken into account.

For a separate public order matter, O’Brien received a one month suspended sentence.

‘You’re a total nuisance,’ the judge said.
