STRUGGLING to come up with an original idea for a Christmas present? Then read on!

Tickets have just gone on sale for the 2017 Drogheda Independent Coca- Cola Sport Star Awards, in association with the Westcourt Hotel, and it’s an opportunity to attend one of the region’s best social and sporting occasions.

The awards take place on Saturday January 27th in the Westcourt Hotel, with 12 top local sportsmen and women being honoured on the night and hoping to add their names to the list of illustrious names who have won the overall prize in the past - among them Shane Horgan, Gary Kelly and Des Smyth.

There are prizes for Team of the Year, Young Sport Star and our latest Hall of Fame inductee also and the evening will be compered by RTE Sport’s renowned and ever-popular presenter Michael Lyster who will be joined by a number of local dignitaries.

Tickets are priced at € 55 each and they include a fantastic four- course meal, together with a live band and disco which keep the entertainment going until the early hours of the Sunday morning. The tickets are available from the Drogheda Independent office in Shop Street during office hours on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with special opening hours during the Christmas period (see advertisement elsewhere in this newspaper).

Coca- Cola are the main sponsors of these awards, as they have been since the first event was held some 29 years ago, and the associate sponsors are the Westcourt Hotel.
