New president for Network Louth
THE new President of Network Louth has been announced as Aileen Phelan, a director in the Drogheda-based firm VCL Consultants.
She was sworn in as president at the Network’s recent AGM.
Aileen is a Director of Accounts and Administration at the company which she runs alongside her husband Eddie. VCL Consultants is a multi-disciplinary design practice specialising in civil and structural engineering and architecture and was established almost 20 years ago. In her role, Aileen deals with the financial and regulatory side of the business. Outside of her professional life, Aileen is the current director and choreographer of the Mornington Gospel Choir and is a volunteer leader for the Irish Maritime Festival.
She is also on the accommodation committee for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018. Aileen is looking forward to the year ahead as President and has plans to develop the three components of Networking, Support and Personal Development.

‘I would also like to welcome the members who are joining the committee for the coming year and I forward to working with them in what will be a very busy 2018’. Supporting Aileen in her role will be vice president Carmel McCarthy, of EMS & Associates based in Drogheda.
Outgoing President, Regina Behan, reflected fondly over her year as president: ‘I was honoured to be the 2017 Network Ireland Louth President leading an amazing bunch of women. The success of the Network is assured going forward with Aileen Phelan and Carmel McCarthy as President and VP for 2018 and we are delighted to welcome several new members to the committee. I would encourage any working woman, no matter what the business or how small or large to join Network Louth.’
The committee and guests enjoyed the Network’s Christmas social and fundraiser in the festive surroundings of Scholars Townhouse Hotel.
Guests were served Listoke Distillery Gin cocktails and with the help of several buckets for collection and the cost of the tickets for the event, the Network raised €300 for the Drogheda Women & Children’s Refuge. The Network Ireland Louth Committee for 2018 also includes Regina Behan, Coppertops, Social Media/Website, Sinead Doody, Sinead Doody Accountant, Treasurer, Margaret Reilly, Grand Designs, Siobhan O’Reilly, Hindsight Training, Karen Morgan Murphy, Travel Counsellors Ireland.
