Conor’s grant boost from JP McManus

-

TWO Louth students have been awarded a JP McManus All Ireland Scholarship toward their third level education.

Mary Mitchell- O’Connor, TD., presented the awards. Special Guest at this year’s Awards Ceremony was Irish President, Michael D. Higgins.

This is the tenth year of the Scholarships, which are sponsored by JP McManus. A total of 125 students from both North and South of Ireland were presented with a third level scholarship certificate. Sponsored by JP McManus, the scheme is set to provide financial assistance to many high achieving students who completed their Leaving Certificate in 2017.

Conor Myers, who attended Ardee Community School in Ardee was one of this year’s winners, “It kind of meant a bit of everything because by getting my fees paid it just took the edge off the financial stress, it means I can do so much more, I can pay for books and other materials that I wouldn’t have been able to before so I’m very grateful.” he said, “I hope to go on and complete medicine and be able to go out and help people.”.
