MONEYMORE’S GREAT PRIDE AT AWARDS ENTRY

Drogheda estate is truly a Place of Pride

-

THE recent Pride of Place awards took place in Donegal. They didn’t win. But if ever that old adage ‘it’s the taking part that counts’ then this was it.

What the groups in Moneymore did in those months in advance of entering the Pride of Place was to bring exactly that phrase to the area.

I know that Louth County Council were involved in the project and the members there were overawed with the real sense of community that exists in the estate.

Moneymore was the first estate in Drogheda to be chosen to represent the county.

What they had to do to get their entry right involved huge time and effort and culminated in the judges arrival and spending hours looking around the place.

Places like the Moneymore Childcare Centre, the Community House, the Cable Project, the ongoing success of the Connect Family Resource Centre and in particular their ‘Food Cloud’ scheme, all combined to show off the area to its best.

There is no doubt a community benefits from such events like this and credit to the council for selecting the estate as the county entry.
