Keane Barry

-

FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLD Keane Barry could be one to watch in the world of darts in years to come after emerging as one of the leading youth players on the planet this year.

During the summer the Duleek boy captained the Ireland team in the European Championships in Sweden, reaching the semi-finals in both the singles and doubles. Then it was onto the World Cup in Japan where he won silver and bronze medals, again captaining his country.

After that it was over to England for the Winmau World Masters Youth Championship where Keane finished second, and last weekend he narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final of a tournament in Holland which was only open to the top six youths in the world.

Back home, successes this year included three Irish Masters Youth titles and an All-Ireland Youth championship.
