SANTA IN SANDPIT

Yes, the jolly man in the red suit did appear at the lighting of the Sandpit Community Christmas Tree at McGrane’s XL last week. Over 300 children were thrilled to meet Santa and tell him what they hoped he would bring them. There was plenty of Carol Singing and Irish Dancing by Scoil Mhuire gan Smal, Greenacres Pre-school and Corrigan White School of Irish Dance. Stephan Callan was another special guest on the evening. Malachy Mc Grane of Mc Grane’s Xl said it was a great evening where community members provided the entertainm­ent for other community members. He expressed his sincere thanks to all who made the evening a huge success. Thank you also to members of BALSANTER and local residents who helped with stewarding which ensured the safety of all present.

CHRISTMAS CARDS.

The Parish Christmas Cards are still on sale. They are available in both Parish Churches and the Credit Union Offices. The cost is €5 for 7 cards. The cards are produced by the Parish Pastoral Council.

ST. FECHIN’S EVENTS.

The St. Fechin’s AGM was held in the Coffee Shop in Forge Field Farm last Wednesday. Those elected are as follows. FLORAL DEMO IN GROVE

A Christmas Floral Demonstrat­ion will be held in the Grove House, Dunleer on Monday December 18th at 8pm. The demonstrat­ion will be given by Christophe­r White, Chelsea Flower Show and Bloom winner and all flower arrangemen­ts on the night will be raffled. Tickets cost €10 and are available at Mc Grane’s XL, Sandpit and Carrons of Togher.

Proceeds are in aid of the St. Fechin’s GAA Community Building Fund.

Tickets are still on sale for the St. Fechin’s Community Building Fundraiser “lip Sync Battle” on December 30th in City North Hotel. Rehearsals are well under way for what promises to be a very entertaini­ng show. These tickets costing €25 can be purchased in Termonfeck­in Post Office, Forge Field Farm Shop and Loud Ink in Meatmarket Lane.

ST. FECHINS LOTTO.

The numbers drawn were 5, 9, 13 and 19. There was no jackpot winner. The €100 winner was Lucy Kirk. Winners of €20 were Louise Rafferty c/o Post Office, Karen Mulroy c/o V/ Mc Glew, Tommy Duff, Anton Mooney and Bridie Farrell c/o Post Office. The jackpot this week is worth €2,100 and is sponsored by Madden’s Centra, Termonfeck­in.

FOOTPATH.

The constructi­on of a new footpath on the Drogheda road as far as Forge Field Farm Shop is certainly very welcome. While the stop/go traffic light system in operation to allow this work to continue may be seen as a slight inconvenie­nce to traffic, it is essential that safety is considered and no doubt will make it much safer for pedestrian­s.

ADORATION.

Eucharisti­c Adoration takes place on Monday evenings from 7-8pm in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Why not come and spend some quiet time in the presence of the Lord.

WHIST.

Whist is held on Sunday nights at 8.30pm in Sandpit Hall. If you are a regular player or would like to learn how to play Whist, why not come along? All are welcome.
