A sea of green as Duleek members come out in force

THE Lourdes Stadium was buzzing on Sunday last as Drogheda and District A.C. hosted their Christmas 5km race.

A sea of green descended upon the stadium as Duleek AC members came out in force, braving the cold, to participat­e in an enjoyable and well run race.

In a highly competitiv­e field, Peter Hearty was first home for the club in a speedy 17.28.

Next in was Eric Devine, breaking the 20-minute barrier in a fast time of 19.31. Steve Gallagher put in a fine performanc­e rounding off the year on a positive note.

The winter training miles are paying off for Lorraine Noone who was the first lady home for the club.

Next in for the ladies was Olive Reilly, while Anita Lennihan and Lorna Fields had a tight finish with only a second separating them.

The warm weather training in Lanzorate has stood to Sandra Cassin who ran a cracking race also.
