WINTER SOLSTICE

ALL are welcome to gather outside the entrance to the Newgrange mound on each of the mornings until December 23rd, sunrise is at 8.58am. A few hundred people are expected to stand at the entrance to Newgrange this Thursday, December 21st and the approach road will be closed.

On the other mornings the numbers at Newgrange are usually much smaller. The best way to get there on December 21st is to go to Brú na Boinne Visitor Centre and get a shuttle bus to the site.

There is no charge for this and the Centre will open at 7.30am. Once you get to Newgrange, you will be allowed on site from 8.30am (once it begins to get light) until 9.30am.

After 9.30am, there is no direct access to Newgrange. There is no charge to go on site up until 9.30am.

TRACTOR RUN

THE annual Tullyallen Tractor Run takes place on Wednesday December 27th, starting at Tullyallen Parochial Hall. Registrati­on takes place on the day at noon.

Tractors, trucks, cars and other vehicle types all welcome. Entry fee is €20.

All proceeds will go to the Oncology Unit at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda and Tullyallen Carers. Raffle on the day.

YOGA CLASSES

THE Ananda Centre, Slane are commences classes in the new year. Mondays - Hatha Yoga for beginners 6pm; Tuesdays - Hatha Yoga mixed ability 9.45am; Thursdays - Restorativ­e Yoga for all 7.30pm.
