CHRISTMAS TREE.

Once again the Christmas Tree stands illuminated at the Bridge, giving the community and visitors a real sense of the Christmas Season. Thanks to all the work put by the Termonfeckin IFA branch which made it happen. The man in the Red Suit made the trip from the North Pole to be there which was a delight to all the children present. Chairman of Termonfeckin IFA Gerard Meegan described the Tree Lighting event as a great evening for all who attended. He extends his thanks to fellow branch members, Chris Everett, Ray Madden of Madden’s Centra, An Garda Siochana and members of BALSANTER who acted as stewards. Thanks also to Ann Mc Evoy, Nicholas Duff, DJ Stephen Callan, Carol Singers from Scoil Naomh Feichin and their teacher Ms. Cassidy.

The Parish Christmas Cards are still on sale. They are available in both Parish Churches and the Credit Union Offices. The cost is €5 for 7 cards. The cards are produced by the Parish Pastoral Council.

GOAL MILE

This year we are celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the Termonfeckin GOAL Mile at St.Feichin’s GAA Grounds, Beaulieu on December 26th at 11am. Everyone in the region is encouraged to come out and join in the GOAL Mile fun over Christmas. Whether you are young or old, and no matter your level of fitness, it is a great way to get some exercise over the festive season and help raise some money for GOAL’s programmes overseas. You can run, jog or walk the Mile – the choice is up to you. There is no need to register, just turn up on the day and donate what you can. All are welcome.

ICA

Termonfeckin ICA Guild members had a very enjoyable Christmas meeting on December 6th. The night involved a “Lucky Dip”, Quiz and a lovely supper. The members filled 20 Shoe Boxes for the “Team Hope Shoe Box Appeal”. Recently local historian Ricky Gerard spoke to members about his interesting books while also giving a talk on local history which was described as very interesting due to his outstanding knowledge.

Three members travelled to the Belfast Christmas Markets with Walshestown ICA and the Guild also entered a team in the Nancy Darcy Quiz. Members attended the Louth Federation meeting on December 12th and the Christmas Party Night in An-Grianan on December 9th. Congratulations to Breda Levins who had the highest score in the Guild monthly Quiz and she was presented with the Rita Carroll Cup by President Rosemary Durnin. Painting Classes are still going well and some members are knitting toys etc for good causes. They brought the toys along to display their “great workmanship” and hopefully inspired the rest of members. The President wished all the members “A Happy Christmas and New Year. The next Guild meeting is on January 17th 2018.
