Blue flags not at risk

Councillors raised concerns about the impact of removing plastic recycling bring banks on Louth’s beaches.

Cllr. Tom Cunningham queried if the lack of bring banks would impact on the Blue Flag status of beaches.

Director of Service Paddy Donnelly said that recycling is a different matter from the blue flag awards. He said council staff remove waste from beaches and dispose of it.

‘We don’t expect it to have any impact on the Blue Flags status of beaches.’
