Thousands of euro handed out to local clubs and groups by the LMETB

-

FINE Gael Councillor and

Vice Chairwoman of Louth and Meath Education and Training Board, Sharon Tolan presented 96 youth groups and organisations with grants of up to €5000 each.

In September 2017, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Katherine Zappone announced the Youth Club Equipment Grant Scheme, in recognition of the youth clubs participation in the National Quality Standards for Voluntary Youth Clubs. Nationally, €6.35 million was awarded.

“LMETB was initially awarded €391,000 but the

ETB Team secured a further €40,000 to bring the total to €431,162.92.

‘This is a massive amount of money for our local youth clubs and groups, which saw organisations like the Scouts and Guides, Foróige groups, Bands and Drama Societies, and youth clubs and cafés all benefit from this fund.

‘It is not easy for clubs to fundraise to buy equipment and this money will go a long way to assist.

‘All of these groups play a unique role in drawing out the best in our young people and I was honored to be in a position to hand out these grants on the night on behalf of LMETB,’ she stated.
