National League club eyes Jayne Flanagan
THE hottest basketball prospect ever to come out of Drogheda is invovled in a tug of love decision between going National League with Dublin aces, Corinthians and staying with her beloved Drogheda / Mosney.
Nineteen year-old Woodgrange girl, Jayne Flanagan is in a dilemma which must end by May 31, when the transfer date runs out and at the moment she’s still undecided about a possible more to the city..
“I simply haven’t a clue what I’m going to do. Corinthians arc going National League and I wouldn’t mind giving it a try before I get too old,” she exclaimed. “I’ve been training in Whitehall and Sydney Parade with Corinthians for the past few weeks.”
There’s little doubt about the Drogheda girl’s stunning ability which has been a feature of the Dublin League in recent seasons .
‘ There is a lot of travelling involved in going National League but I do know some of the Corinthians girls because I played with them in an inter-bank competition about three weeks ago,” she confirmed. Nevertheless she isn’t committing herself to the Dublin side and would be considering any other offers coming in from present or intending top grade sides.
Corinthians coach Des Hopkins confirmed the Dublin club’s interest in Jayne. “She showed a lot of potential in our game with Drogheda and with the right coaching she’ll have a future in the game,” he revealed. “We would hope to add her to our squad.”
