Warrant issued in court for driver

-

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Joseph Ryan (24) to face sentencing after he was convicted of uninsured driving. THE accused, of Cedarfield, Drogheda, failed to appear to answer charges, after he was stopped in an Audi A4 at Windmill Road on 5 October, 2016.

Garda Thomas Canavan said Ryan subsequently he wasn’t driving on the occasion, and that another man had given his details when stopped by the guards.

He named that person, who was arrested on foot of a bench warrant after he didn’t turn up previously, and was now present. The man said he knows Joseph Ryan, but has had no interaction with him.

He was not driving the car that day, and had never driven this vehicle.

Judge Coughlan said, in the circumstances, he was going to convict Joseph Ryan of having no insurance.

He heard the defendant has 31 previous convictions, including two for uninsured driving.
