Carshare company GoCar launches Drogheda service

-

CHRISTMAS came early at Drogheda Institute for Further Education (DIFE) when Guidance Counsellors from all over Co Meath and Co Louth met in DIFE for Christmas lunch and a tour of the new college facilities.

This event was the first of its kind when the state-of- the-art college training kitchen transformed into a real-life restaurant kitchen. This real-life experience was a fantastic opportunity to test thestudent’s skills and feel the pressure and excitement of working in the catering industry.

The QQI Culinary Arts Programme has been running for three years at DIFE. Due to the success of the course at Level 5 there was a high demand for Level 6 which was introduced this year for the first time. Level 6 gives students a unique opportunity to continue on their career path in the Culinary Arts sector at DIFE.

This course was developed in response to the recognised skills and employment shortages currently being experienced with this industry in Ireland.

Students are well-equipped with knowledge and practical skills to enter the work force after this course.

Drogheda Institute for Further Education invites you to attend the annual open days.

Open days are on January 18th 2018 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm and January 19th 2018 9.00 am to 4.00 pm. The Open Days are a wonderful opportunity to meet staff and students, and to get a feel for what college life at DIFE is like. CAR sharing company GoCar launched a new car scrappage service called GoCar Scrappage which will enable owners of rarely used vehicles to trade them in for car sharing credit.

This new offering is part of GoCar’s ongoing mission to make car sharing available to as many drivers in Ireland as possible, and encourage the public to consider car sharing as a flexible, sustainable and cost-effective alternative to car ownership.

The service is targeted at owners of older cars and vehicles which are largely lying idle but are costing significant amounts to maintain in terms of tax and insurance. In contrast to car ownership, car sharing provides drivers with pay-as-you-go use of vehicles, free on-street parking, with no costs incurred for fuel, NCT testing, vehicle servicing, motor tax or insurance premiums. Anyone who is 21 years of age or over and has a full driver license can avail of GoCar scrappage and car sharing with car sharing bases now available across 19 counties in Ireland including Drogheda.

To avail of the new scrappage service, interested vehicle owners simply need to share their vehicle details with GoCar along with the vehicle’s scrappage value. GoCar review scrappage submissions and make an offer of car sharing credit which can be used across the full GoCar vehicle range including car, van and electric fleet. Drivers who avail of GoCar scrappage will also have the opportunity to drive one of 200 new 181 registered GoCar vehicles which will be added to the existing fleet from January 2018.

Speaking about the launch of GoCar Scrappage, GoCar Managing Director Colm Brady said, “We’re delighted to launch GoCar Scrappage – the new year is always a time for positive resolutions and fresh starts.’
