Dunleer duo rub shoulders with the world’s best

TWO of Dunleer AC’s finest female athletes rubbed shoulders with a few of the world’s best at the Antrim International Cross-Country on Saturday where Karen Costello finished second Over-40 and 29th overall.

Clubmate Nicola Welsh was sixth in the same category and 46th overall in a race won by Kenya’s Margaret Chelimo Kipkemboi, with Irish star Fionnuala McCormack back in sixth place.

Meanwhile, the Dunleer AC juveniles had a great indoor training session at the National Sports Arena in Abbotstown at the weekend.

Preparations are under way for Rás na hÉireann 2018, the big annual cross-country meeting hosted by Dunleer AC at Oldbridge, Drogheda, on February 18th.
