ERIKA IS AIMING TO BE NEXT TOP MODEL
REMEMBER the name - and the face - Erika Vaistaraite.
The 34-year-old Drogheda woman is determined that next Saturday will see her fulfill the dream of becoming Ireland’s Top Model at the national finals being held at Citywest in Dublin.
The bubbly mum of one, who is originally from Lithuania, has lived by the Boyneside for eight years and now calls it home. ‘I am nervous about Saturday, but in a good way,’ she stated. The preparations for the competition - Top Model Ireland - has caught her imagination and she eagerly spreads the word about the tremendous ethos of the event.
‘ This is truly for everybody. Working with the professionals has been great and makes me want to take this opportunity. There are sections for teens, over 25s and size plus, so it’s very inclusive. I would encourage any woman out there to try this. We are all beautiful you know!,’ she adds.
Last year the winner of the event made it to London Fashion Week and got her image in Vogue magazine.
When she was 18, she won her first beauty competition and later finished in the top six for having the best looking legs in Lithuania!
‘My family and friends really believe in me but this time I will be competing for me and hopefully I can bring the title back to Drogheda.’
Erika admits that her preparations have caught the eye in Scotch Hall.
‘I had to practice my walk for the catwalk on Saturday but my house has a small hall, so I go down to Scotch Hall and walk up and down the length of the centre. People must think I’m crazy!,’ she admits.
Established since 2006, Top Model is the original No.1 leading professional model search competition in Ireland and has a record of discovering new model talent.
Top Model Ireland promotes healthy living and operates ‘No size zero’ recruitment, actively encouraging a wide-ranging mix of competitors.
