Gaulstown Road traffic calming
Louth County Council has said it will look into the possibility of providing Traffic Calming Measures along the Gaulstown Road from Mullary Cross to the Grangebellew/Drogheda Road. The issue was raised in a notice of motion by Councillor Tommy Byrne who called for measures to put put in place, including proper road markings and signage strategically placed in the interest of public safety. Councillor Oliver Tully said there was a section of road where a lot of work was carried out for traffic calming measures but funding was never put in place. He said there are still plans to do the work on the Ballymakenny side to slow down the lorries but it never happened. Responding to the motion, Louth County Council said the location identified by the member will be inspected in accordance with policy and traffic management guidelines. They said subject to the findings of such an inspection and survey, the works may be included in the Road Works programme for 2018 but this will be dependent on the resources available.
