Kristin’s Launch Day show in Droichead

-

DROGHEDA woman Kristin Kelly-Abbott will bring her unique production - Launch Day - to the Droichead Arts Centre on February 23 with local performers to be auditioned to be part of the whole thing. It will be the Irish premiere of the show.

Based in Newcastle for the past 13 years, Kristin created and toured her first full-length production across the North East of England in 2016 and recently received Arts Council Funding in England to support a National Tour of Launch Day, with one Irish date.

It is set in the industrial North East of England, incorporating the shipyards and the rivalry between Newcastle and Sunderland football clubs. Kristin is even thinking of tweaking it to include Drogheda and Dundalk FC’s links!

Kristin will also have students from her old school, Greenhills, involved in the show. There is a real local angle to the soundtrack as Kristin collaborated with local man Breifne Holohan on it.

KRISTIN’S professional dance company - KADT - are seeking 10 members of the local community to take part in the play.

Performers have to aged 30 or over and the chosen participants will learn some simple movement and take part in four scenes: the opening, a football scene, a pub scene and the finale. No dance experience is necessary.

They will be required to attend one workshop/ rehearsal session on 3rd February at Ballymakenny College, Ballymakenny Road leading up to the performance on Friday 23rd February. Participants will also be required to attend a technical/dress rehearsal on the day of the show
