Now steps lead you to see the majesty of the Buttergate
A most interesting addition to the area beside Buttergate are concrete steps, allowing people to now walk up to the structure and inspect it - close up and personal.
There has been a huge change around this area since a group of volunteers took on a clean up of the area and after decades of decay, you can now see the structure properly.
The route up to the gate is not for the faint hearted however, especially in wet weather.
I know those behind the project are intent on further works so people, both locals and visitors, can see the majesty of the Buttergate.
By the looks of it, it’s in good condition and might be with us for a good few hundred more years!
