Wigan dreams are in safe hands with Nick Colgan
I HAVE to give full credit to a true professional in Brookville man Nick Colgan (right).
Nick has spent a lifetime in football and went to England as a young lad to join Chelsea.
He enjoyed spells at a number of clubs after that, gaining invaluable experience along the way.
He was also capped for Ireland a number of times to boot.
Last year, he found himself right bang in the centre of the Huddersfield Town fairytale story.
They stormed up the Championship table - with Colgan as goalkeeping coach - and made the play offs.
And in that Wembley final, he guided his custodian to clinching a place in the Premiership.
But within a few short weeks, the news came that Nick would not be staying at the club.
That was hard to take given the commitment he had shown and given to the side - but that’s football.
So what does Nick do? - off he goes to Wigan Athletic, a side struggling in recent times, and helps them to the top of League One.
He’s been working well with keeper Christian Walton and their recent 2-2 draw with Bournemouth in the FA Cup were the first goals he’d conceded in seven games!
Come the end of this season, expect Nick Colgan to be in the winners enclosure again. That’s what winners do.
