Operation transforma­tion: On Monday nights from January 22nd the pitch will be open from 7 to 9pm for anyone who wants to walk in a safe and floodlit environmen­t. Tea and coffee will be available in the clubhouse and all ages and abilities are welcome.

DUNDALK GAELS

ASHLEY Copas has joined the committee and is to fill the post of Insurance Officer left vacant at the annual meeting. Ashley is daughter of Gerry Copas, a former player and selector, and current committee member.

Votes of sympathy were passed at a recent meeting with the families of the late Patrick O’Connor, Patsy Reenan and Paul McFadden.

HUNTERSTOW­N ROVERS

THE Hunterstow­n Rovers Social Night takes place this coming Saturday in the Hunterstow­n Inn at 8pm. The Senior, Junior and Minor player of the year will be announced as well as the Hall of Fame award. Everyone is welcome!

Our U-14 boys and girls teams will participat­e in Féile Peile Na nÓg on June 29th, 30th and July 1st. Host families are still needed to provide accommodat­ion for teams travelling to the competitio­n - you do not need to have a child involved in the Féile to provide accommodat­ion. Hunterstow­n Rovers bingo takes place every Friday in the Ardee Parish Centre from 8pm. There are some great cash prizes to be won on the night, including the winner takes all flyer.

The Community Alert annual Christmas Party for senior citizens takes place next Sunday at 2pm in the Community Centre. It had been planned for Sunday December 10th but was postponed due to bad weather.

CONGRATULA­TIONS to Carl O’Connell, recent winner of the Lannleire lotto jackpot prize of €15,000. Carl picked the lucky numbers of 3, 8, 22 and 24 for the draw on January 3rd.

In last Wednesday’s draw the numbers were 2, 3, 21 and 22, with no winner of the jackpot prize. The small prize winners were Mary O’Connell and Shane Kelly and this week’s jackpot stands at €7,900.

WELL done and congrats to young sharpshoot­er Oran Fay who managed to defeat a strong field of challenger­s to win our juvenile Top Ace score competitio­n with a fine score of 12 aces.

Our juvenile 40x20 coaching will resume at Gormanston College sports complex this Tuesday at 6.30pm. Transport as usual departs from the Pheasant car park at 6pm sharp.

Club membership for the 2018 handball season is now due - adult fees €40, Juvenile fees €10. Players should please note that our club registrati­ons will take place at Coke community hall this Friday at 8pm.

GAA Handball are running a series of club workshops at the National Sports Campus, Abbottstow­n, on Saturday February 3rd. Any club delegates wishing to attend this event should contact club secretary J Kelly asap please.

Our juvenile onewall perpetual shield competitio­n will resume this week and all juveniles are asked to wear their club colours during their games please.

THE club held their agm in the the Dowdallshi­ll clubrooms last Friday evening where the gathering reflected back on 2017 where it captured the following titles - Senior and Minor Champioshi­p, South Ulster Minor League, U-13 League and U-11 McCreesh ‘B’ Shield.

Details of the latest developmen­ts on the new pitches in Toberona were also given to those in attendance, with the club’s Honorary President Jim Mc Guinness turning the first sod at the field on Saturday morning.

Moninne took part in the first round of the Ulster Indoor U-8 hurling at the DkIT Centre on Sunday morning. The panel of players was Harry O’Callaghan, Conal Cairns, Ronan Goss, Aoife Dowdall, Orla and Odran McCourt, Dillon Heaney, Oisin Cunningham, Donal Brady, Josh Murphy and Oisin Maguire.

The first round of the Ulster Indoor U-10 hurling goes ahead at the DkIT Centre next Sunday at 10am.

Club juvenile training for all players U-6 to U-16 continues at the DkIT Centre on Saturdays from 2 to 3pm, with the usual €2 contributi­on still applying.

Three players, Ronan Geoghegan (1-5), John Martin and Diarmuid Murphy, were part of the Louth team that beat DCU St Patrick’s by 3-13 to 1-12 in the Kehoe Cup in Darver on Sunday afternoon.

NEWTOWN BLUES

NUMBERS drawn in last week’s lotto were 2, 9, 18, 19 and the €25 winners were G Heeney, Bernie Healy, Kevin McDonnell, Des Levins and Alice McGrath. This week’s jackpot stands at €5,200.

Astro training is on in St Joseph’s Secondary School each Wednesday - 6 to 6.45pm for boys and girls aged seven to 10 and 6.45-7.30pm for boys and girls aged 11 to 12. The cost €3 per person - all welcome.

Our senior men’s team are up for Team of the Year and our captain Andy Mc Donnell is up for Sport Star of the year in the Drogheda Independen­t Sport Star Awards. So, folks, get voting each week. Forms are available in the Drogheda Independen­t.
