Prestigious prize for Cushinstown
CUSHINSTOWN AC were presented with the prestigious Mick Quinn Cup for best Juvenile club at the Athletics Leinster Star Awards 2017 in Tullamore the weekend before last.
In June 2017, over the course of two weekends, a contingent of 18 of Cushinstown’s juvenile athletes travelled to Tullamore for the Leinster Championships to compete in various track & field events, winning an impressive 16 medals.
Those who competed for the girls included Katie Lenehan, Aine O’Sullivan, Amy Callaghan, Mollie White, Niamh Quinn, Amy Bellew, Emily McGreal, Abi Sheehy, Niamh Cahill, Ava Purcell, Laura Bolster, Ella Barry, Ellen Gough; and for the boys, Loclainn Harris, Eamon Armstrong, James Bellew and Lee Callaghan.
The award is in recognition of the great results achieved by the juvenile (U-12 to U-15) athletes at the Leinster Outdoor Track & Field competitions in 2017.
This is a wonderful achievement for both the athletes and coaches involved as all their hard training has brought them well-deserved success.
This was the third time that Cushinstown have secured the Mick Quinn Cup, previously winning it in 1988 and 2011.
