Boulder taken from Meadowview system

-

A MAJOR health hazard issue at the Meadowview estate in Drogheda appears to have been resolved after a large bolder was discovered blocking a main sewerage line.

Residents have had to put up with an overflowing manhole cover for some weeks, until local councillor Tommy Byrne demanded real action on the issue.

It now appears the situation has been fixed after Irish Water confirmed to him that Louth County Council, on behalf of Irish Water, and Contractors, visited the site.

They jetted the sewerage lines and conducted a camera survey. A large boulder was discovered which was blocking the line.

This was eventually removed and Irish Water are satisfied that the issue is now resolved.

Just before Christmas, the manhole overflowed yet again, with sewerage overflowing from early in the morning onto the footpath and public road.

Parents bringing their children to the local primary school at Bryanstown and students at Scared Heart Secondary School ended up walking through the sewerage, not realising what was there.

?? ?? It is hoped the issues with a blocked sewer in a Drogheda estate are now resolved.
