Council to seek funds to upgrade Aura facilities

-

LOUTH County Council are to see capital investment to upgrade changing room and shower facilities in the Aura leisure centre in Drogheda, after Cllr Paul Bell claimed the facility is in an unacceptable condition.

“Following many representations from members of the public using the facility located on Marley’s Lane. I took the issues to Council so as to clarify the local authority’s position. I have learned that Council is indeed responsible for the maintenance and now urgently required refurbishment of the facilities at the centre which is now operating in its twelfth year”. Said Bell

Bell also confirmed “I have seen some images of the condition of lockers, benches and wash facilities all of which have come about through wear and tear. I am also aware that some patrons have decided not to renew their annual membership which is a disappointment as routine maintenance should have been carried out.

‘Since raising the issue I have learned that plans are under consideration for capital investment in the Drogheda centre. I do intend to pursue this issue at the next monthly meeting of the Municipal Borough meeting”.
