Jim Kelly in Wrexham

THE Kelly clan has always been associated with football and 40 years ago this year, a certain Jim Kelly headed off on trial to Wales.

The a Boyne Rovers under-19 striker, he travelled to Wrexham for a week’s trial with the Welsh side, then leaders of the Third Division. Jim had been scoring goals consistently for the side who played in thc AUL Under-19 League and was a fomer Naomh Mhuire man too.
