Larry Clarke says thanks for all the support for 24-hour roller cycle
THAT great cycling man Larry Clarke has been in touch to say thanks to all those who supported the 24 hour roller cycle event in Navan recently.
‘I wish to take this opportunity on behalf of my fellow Navan Road Club members to sincerely thank all who took part, supported and contributed so generously to our event.
‘ The cycle turned our to be hugely successful with the total raised yet to be determined as sponsorship pledges are still coming in. All funds raised from this marathon event will go to the ARC Cancer Support Centre. The centre provides care for people with cancer, and for those who care for them regardless of where they live, its also a voluntary organisation and its services are free of charge.
‘We extend a big thanks to our good friends who helped with the 24-Hour and to all club members who have supported the ARC centre over the past number of years. ‘Also thanks to the collectors, to all who filled sponsorship cards and to our main sponsor Enda and Sadie Blaney of Teach na Teamhrach. Many thanks to Navan Municipal District, Navan Gardaí, Navan Cycle Centre also Noel and Mary Foley of The Lantern for their great support.’
Graham Macken who last year teamed up with Declan Brassil and finished the Race Across America, which is considered one of the Worlds toughest bike race, officially started the cycle is also thanked.
