SET DANCING WEEKEND

The finishing touches are being made to the annual Set Dancing Weekend which runs from January 26th-28th. Friday evening is The Official Opening is on Friday evening which will be followed by a Ceili with music provided by local traditiona­l group Triskell. Saturday comprises of workshops and classes in music, sean nos singing and of course dancing, all from 10am to 4pm.

The Ceili on Saturday evening features the Donie Nolan Ceili Band. Sunday will have a number of traditiona­l sessions in the front rooms and the weekend will draw to a close with a farewell Ceili. The music will be provided by the All Ireland winning Dartry Ceili Band from Sligo. Further informatio­n is available from John Mc Evoy at 087-7621749 or Jim Finegan at 087-9161903. The Set Dancing Weekend will surely be of greater importance given the 2018 Fleadh which takes place in Drogheda later this year and no doubt will get people in the mood for this huge event.

WEEKLY SET DANCING.

Set Dancing has resumed again in Sandpit Hall on Thursdays nights at 8.30pm. All are welcome.

LIP SYNC NIGHT

It will be talked about forever given the hugely successful night in the City North Hotel on December 30th. The venue was full to capacity for the St Fechin’s Lip Sync Fundraiser which attracted 50 competitor­s.

Chairman John Mc Evoy described it as a great night’s entertainm­ent and social event for the Parish with all ages getting great enjoyment. He paid tribute to all those who made it happen saying that it involved a lot of work. Highlights of the show were an appearance by Elvis in the form of Noel Mc Evoy who along with two of his grandchild­ren, brought the house down and also managed to win the prize for selling the most tickets. The star of the show who won the overall event was Frank (Shania Twain) Hughes who gave a great rendition of “Man, I Feel Like a Woman”. Well done to all for such an excellent night.

MACRA NA FEIRME

The Club is running a Drama workshop to help members prepare for the Drama competitio­n and also help members improve confidence and perform better in other competitio­ns such as Public Speaking and Performing Arts. These workshop will take place on four Wednesday’s in Sandpit Hall at 9pm. The dates are January 24th and 31st and February 21st and 28th. If you are interested in these workshops, please get in contact to reserve your place. The interviews for the County Finals of Mr Personalit­y, Queen of the Land, Miss Macra and the Blue Jeans Country Queen take place on February 17th in Cluskey’s of Little Ash. ERIN’S RUN

The fourth Erin’s Run takes place at 3pm on Sunday February 11th, starting and finishing at An-Grianan. This now annual 5k Run is in memory of Erin Curran who passed away in September 2014 due to a rare neurologic­al disorder she was born with. Registrati­ons are now open and the cost of participat­ion is €15 per adult and €35 for a family of 2 adults and 2 children under 16. The first 400 entrants will receive a t-shirt. This year, proceeds are in aid of the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation.

ST. FECHINS LOTTO

The numbers drawn were 6, 7, 8 and 24. There was no jackpot winner. The €100 winner was Daniel Mc Keown. Winners of €20 were Sabongi Family, Maurice and Gina Keane, Kevin Murphy, Karen Mulrey and Brenda and Lal Kavanagh. The jackpot is worth €1,300 and is sponsored by Madden’s Centra, Termonfeck­in.

TERRY GANNON R.I.P.

We offer our deepest sympathy to the family, relations and friends of Terry Allen (nee Gannon) Baltray, who died recently. Requiem Mass was offered in the Church of the Immaculate Conception and the Funeral in Termonfeck­in Old Cemetery.

SEAPOINT PITCH & PUTT.

The results of last weekends Fourball vPar are as follows. 1st: Gerry Breen Jnr. and Eddie Smith: 13up (ob9 8up). 2nd: Johnny Campbell Snr. and Pat Curran: 13up (ob9 7up). The Briscoes Expert Electrical Winter League is underway having started with an 18 Nett. There is still time to get names on the entry sheet on the board for this years Winter League so members, please get your names up as soon as possible. The Seapoint Pitch & Putt AGM took place last Monday January 15th . There will be a report on the AGM next week edition.

Eucharisti­c Adoration takes place on Monday evenings from 7-8pm in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Why not come and spend some quiet time in the presence of the Lord.

LOTTO RESULTS

Results for the Glen Emmets Lotto held Tuesday 16th January 2018. The Grand Prize Draw was for €3,400 and there was no winner. The numbers drawn were: 4, 22, 29 & 31. SLIMMING WORLD TIMES

Slimming World are running their classes every Thursday. The first class is 5pm and the second is 7pm. If you feel you have overdone it a wee bit at Christmas, why not head on down to the Glen Emmets Clubrooms. All new and returning members are more than welcome as Amanda will be there giving plenty of inspiratio­n, motivation and encouragem­ent to everyone who comes along.

COUCH TO 5K

The popular couch to 5k is back again this year. Sign up is at the Glen Emmets clubrooms on Sunday 28th January 10am to 12 noon. This is open to absolutely everyone, those who have run before but would like to get back into it or anyone who would like to improve their 5k times but especially those who have never run before. As the poster says “no matter how slow you go, you are still lapping everybody on the couch”

FUN GYMNASTICS

Gymnastics classes take place in the parish hall and is aimed at children 5-14 years. They have a few places left for their new term that starts Wednesday 31st January. Give them a call on 86 041 1112 to book your place or to find out more info on this.

MEN’S SHED

The Tullyallen Men’s Shed have come back after the Christmas break they are meeting on Tuesday mornings at 10am in the Glen Emmets Clubhouse.

On March 3rd in the TLT Theatre, Drogheda, an “Oskars” night will take place for the Lifeboat. At present rehearsals are taking place and I believe all is going to plan. More informatio­n nearer the date

This is also a fundraisin­g effort on behalf of the crew for the New Boat.

Carmel’s Chaerobics Exercise Classes “Sit and Get Fit” as broadcast on LMFM, will recommence in Tullydonne­ll School Hall on Tuesday 16th January 7.30 – 8.30pm and every Tuesday afterwards.
