Creative writers and poets take the mic in Sarsfields

DROGHEDA creative writers presents its second open mic night for poets and writers to read and perform. All local poets and writers are invited to read and perform at the second Poets Corner Open Mic session in the Living Room, Sarsfields Bar, Drogheda on Monday 12th February at 8.30pm.

If you would like to read and perform you can contact droghedacr­eativewrit­ers@gmail.com to have your name added to the list or alternativ­ely arrive before 8.30pm so you name can be added to the list before the event starts. Special guest performer will be Nuala Leonard who is a spoken word artist and has performed throughout Ireland for many years. She was runner up in the NYF Slam 2015 and won first place in 2017 in the All Ireland Slam Championsh­ip in Enniskille­n. She recently performed at the Dublin Therapy Session in the Workman’s Club. This is a performanc­e not to be missed.

Sonata Singers in concert night

SONATA Singers, a ladies chamber choir, will appear in concert in Droichead Arts Centre, Drogheda on Friday 2nd February at 8pm. They were formed in 2000 by Siobhán Seberry, their musical director and sing mostly a capella, in a great variety of styles, from chamber music to light classical and popular pieces, appealing to all tastes.

The choir are delighted to have some very special guests join them on the night; Niamh Browne (Soprano), Timmy Regan (Tenor), Daniela Rooney (Pianist), Francis Duffy (Cornet), Louth Hospitals Choir and A Few Bars More (Male Voice Quintet).
