FOLLOWING the O’Byrne Cup defeat to Longford Pete McGrath suggested were well endowed with attacking talent and that it was his defence that needed some special attention going forward. However, he may feel the opposite after this display as his defence, including two debutants held their own for long spells. The question McGrath might now be pondering is whether he has the forwards to compete at this level. It doesn’t help that Sam Mulroy and now Ryan Burns are carrying injuries, but an 11-point haul won’t win the Reds too many games this season.
